It’s unfair beyond words for anyone to be diagnosed with blood cancer.
The burden can be unbearably heavy. But no one should ever have to face the added burden of finding it hard to access medical care – because they’re from a regional or country area.
When Annie was two and a half, she was diagnosed with blood cancer – and her happy outdoor childhood in regional Victoria was turned upside down.
Please will you give today, so all families can get the best treatment, the best care and the best outcomes – wherever they live?
The lifesaving treatment and care Annie needed was in a city hundreds of kilometres away. Her family had to relocate in an instant, leaving home, family support and jobs behind. At this stressful time, they needed somewhere to stay near hospital, so Annie could access treatment.
Please will you help ease the burden for families from regional areas, by giving them a place to stay near hospital during treatment?
Thankfully Annie and her family were able to stay in Leukaemia Foundation accommodation, which also meant they could spend Christmas together – while Annie had the treatment she needed to save her life. But without support, families like hers can struggle to access the best medical care.
It’s deeply unfair that treatment, care and outcomes can be decided by where you live. Please give a gift today, so all families can have a fair chance of beating blood cancer.
